Wow. This should NOT have been deleted. Why was this deleted? It gives us more background on Evelyn and Frank and their relationship and it's great pieces of writing and acting. We also get to see that Evelyn has contempt not just for what Frank is doing now but his entire course of study and career as a Philosophy Prof. Ouch.
That should not have been deleted. Powerful! She really let him have it with both barrels. Such contempt for her own child but I loved his response. That was amazing acting for both of them!!
I agree with both of you there. It's a powerful, amazing scene and would have been a great addition to the complexity of the undercurrents in the story. Also it's another example of the fantastic performances put in by every single actor in this film.

Brilliant acting by both of them, and you can see the contempt they hold for each other. A real shame that this was deleted!
