No offense taken. That’s just not my bag. I used to do that with Brendan in my teens before he became extended family to us and after that it felt strange for a bit but nah. The occasional weird factoid (eg. Doritos, etc)? Sure. Anything else I shouldn’t know or feels private (Eg. Friends or fam that aren’t public figures?) Nahhh.
I’ve been that way for a while I’m not knocking y’all at all. Feel free to be walking Evans encyclopedia’s. If I got a question at least one of you can answer it. 😊 Like I said the twitter is helping me along a bit.

No need for an apology, and no offense taken.
Each person's journey through fandom is different. What they want out of that journey is different too. Some are happy in calling themselves a fan and only ever watching Marvel. Some like the Marvel stuff and want to check out some or all of his filmography, and both are fine. Some want to know everything there is and spend hours upon hours trawling the internet for everything they can find - a bit creepy, but fine.
There are a lot of people here with a lot of knowledge and we can usually solve a lot of queries between us!

I do have all of his films - helping y’all made me eventually get a complete set 😂- some I haven’t watched because they look boring to me *ducks*.
But like I said if there’s something I don’t know I’m glad someone does in order to get an answer. 😊
And bob knows I can find hard to find shit at the drop of the hat if I’m looking for it and set out to so it depends. 😂

When I get interested in something, I fall down the rabbit hole hard and get preeeeetty obsessed with knowing as much as possible about the person/subject. It becomes a quest for me lol. And I'm so glad you're able to find rares, because weirdly enough I have some of the worst luck searching for things! It's so bizarre but I swear Google hates me and there's some sort of conspiracy where they want to make my life difficult and force me to hunt twice as long to find something. I actually tested my theory the other week when I searched for the exact same phrase as a friend of mine and we both got back different results...I have no idea wtf to think about that. >_< As an aside, who is Brendan? lol

Ah crap I didn't mean to come across like a totally pompous ass, I'm sorry. >_< I was just agreeing with Bob that the ones who act like they're huge fans (and tend to be gatekeepers too which is v irritating) but know very few if any details about him as a person are pretty ironic. For example I have a friend who calls herself a huge fangirl yet she's only seen like 2 of Chris' non-Marvel movies, which is just wtf to me lol. And honestly the only reason I've learned so much about Chris beyond his work is I was unemployed for a while when I first got interested a couple years ago, so I had a ton of free time to just read and research. I'm still learning too! A former friend used to nickname me 'Chriswiki' because I have this thing where I remember all sorts of useless facts and trivia. I know Tara & Guillermo but it took me ages to know who Josh was (or at least to put a face to a name!) and I'm not sure who his other friends are - and I'm not sure I really want to - Chris is the celeb, not them!
I did the same, read up on a load of stuff and binge watched a load of his old movies. It's a bit of a joke that I have a Masters in Evansology (earned to & from the US when I went to see Lobby Hero) but it's just this weird thing I can do. I read once that his shoe size is US 11. I do not need to know that!
Knowledge is power! lol at least that's what I tell myself whenever I start questioning if I REALLY need to know things like his shoe size (...US 10.5 is what I had read from a different source ^_^

I can find things very easily and with minimal to rough searching but the random stuff, yeah, I just prefer not to know unless I either come across it by accident or something on Twitter happens or if it’s a huge news story. I’m a film buff but could care less about shoe size or favorite cereal but like I said I’m glad y’all know.

Honestly I've found *maybe* a handful of really cool, very rare Chris-related things over the past couple years. I don't know if I'm just trying too hard or what it is, but half the time when I go searching for tough to find stuff I have no luck at all or I'm working at it for ages. >_<

He’s not for everyone but this was his big role www.imdb.com/title/tt0201391/ along with this one: www.imdb.com/title/tt2477230/ but you most likely have seen him he’s been in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: brendanfehrphotos.net/index.php?cat=68 and was also in the first Final Destination movie, he’s also nominated for the equivalent of a Canadian Oscar tonight so it’s a tad weird But 🤷🏻♀️ 😂 I only think I got the twitter because I’m used to it but the Brendan twitter is QUIET compared to the Chris one which I don’t mind — juggling stuff has been fun — little time consuming but fun. Also my Chris movies have doubles because I track down A LOT and some times after I rip the extras I send the doubles to my best friend. 😂

I tend to keep multiple copies of the same things in case one gets lost or I forget which specific subfolder I put something in or whatever. My hoard is 183GB big now and I wouldn't be surprised if a quarter of that is from all of the doubles. >_<

Out of interest I have a folder with images - 7.82 GB (8,403,877,888 bytes), 19,517 Files, 1,114 Folders. I know there are duplicate files because, running a FB group we sometimes have theme days and having folders with the most popular images makes it easier.
Those files don't include the stuff I have downloaded.

I know I'm late to the discussion, but I don't think you can set a number of films you can set to have watched before you can call yourself a fan. It reeks a bit of elitism to me and I don't like that. I personally have only seen four films of Chris outside of Marvel (Snowpiercer, Puncture, Knives Out, Red Sea Diving Resort) and I consider myself a fan, because I think Chris is a great actor. Do you think he's great actor and have at least seen him in something? Then call yourself a fan. That's enough for me.
I do plan on watching Defending Jacob once the last episode is out on Friday and I'll buy Sunshine next month as well.

I do plan on watching Defending Jacob once the last episode is out on Friday and I'll buy Sunshine next month as well. Sorry, I meant no offense. I was just referring to people I've seen around the fandom who act like all-knowing gatekeepers when they've seen hardly anything in Chris' filmography, don't know much about him at all, etc. Anyone can call themselves a fan regardless of how much they do or don't know, after all we were all new at one point! I just find it ironic and a little annoying whenever I see the types I'm referring to. It's almost like they don't want people to know they're new and still learning, as if it's something to be ashamed of, so they try to hide it by acting like they know way more than they actually do.

I know I'm late to the discussion, but I don't think you can set a number of films you can set to have watched before you can call yourself a fan. It reeks a bit of elitism to me and I don't like that. This is honestly not directed at you. But the word 'elitism' just sparked off a chain of thoughts I wanted to share with the world. This is a thorny subject and people probably don't realise that the lack of respect can sometimes be a two way street. I think one of the many things that I like about this site is that it's very welcoming and there is no sense of having to serve an apprenticeship till you're accepted. There's no test to pass. If you're in, you're in. As far I'm concerned if you like what Chris does and get pleasure from his work as well as like him as a person then you're a fan. I prefer the word supporter but that's another story. 🤣 And if you care enough to actually join us that's even better. If you haven't seen much of his work then that's why we are here. We want to give information so that people know what his projects have been and you can then go on and watch more as you wish. In fact, I would go as far as to say new fans are my main reason for doing this. It's nice to have a 'library' of information for long time fans to go back to but it's people who don't know these things that I have mostly in mind. I actually get most pleasure when I post old stuff and there are people seeing it for the first time. I get a real buzz out of bringing parts of his career new fans maybe don't know about and shining a light on it. If everyone already knew, it would be kind of pointless. An example would be the video I posted yesterday of Chris doing exercises in the warm up to SPVTW. I didn't so much post that for those of us who've seen it a thousand times before. I posted it for people who have NEVER seen it. BUT is it really too much to expect to have your knowledge and experience respected at least at some level? And do people realise how often I come across the 'who the hell do you think you are?' attitude? I came across it a number of times on Twitter. It's kind of an inverted snobbery where they see you as a dusty old git who knows too much and thinks he's clever. It's irritating. I don't consider myself to be a 'better' fan than new fans. I do consider myself and others like me (and there are a few in here as you can tell from this thread) to be more knowledgeable. I was helping to run two Chris Evans fansites when you could literally count such sites on the fingers of one hand. Some of us (I'm definitely not the only one) have been doing this for at least a decade and remember well when you had to explain to people who Chris Evans actually was. I have a lot of experience some of which, frustratingly, I'm not even at liberty to talk about. I consider myself to be a bit of an amateur expert on his career and much of his life. This is not saying I feel I'm a 'better' fan or a better person. I just know stuff. So are people aware that I sometimes feel self-conscious about that and think that other people are looking at me thinking 'he's so full of himself' or that I'm worrying that people think I'm being elitist. Because I do. Don't get me wrong. It doesn't keep me awake at night but it is an attitude I've come across.

Yeah, you get that kind of thing on Twitter. Don't let it bother you. You're not elitist in any way. Maybe some of them actually feel threatened in some way. If you're a passionate new Twitter fan who genuinely considers yourself to be his best ever fan and then you run into some guy who's talking about what Chris was wearing to his 10th birthday party then it kind of throws them. Also if I can mention the elephant in the room. Something you get a lot of on other social media is a lot of fans who no matter how much they love Chris's acting - and who wouldn't - they are actually in love with him. This site has always made it clear it's career focused. We all love him but we're not all in love with him. If you are, hey that's fine, love him to your heart's content, but it's not a necessity in here. I actually think it's really important because it does make us unique. If you're active in here you're either a Bob, Picap etc or a trainee Bob, Picap etc. It's all good but I think that actually throws some people too. They're not sure how to take us. But at least we know that we enjoy the trust of those close to Chris. That's another elephant in the room.

i've been quiet for a while. as a matter of full disclosure, i am a health care provider, and am in the middle of all this COVID stuff. and now i am watching my homeland burn down . while i do think it's important that celebrities use their positions to advocate, the social media crowd tends to way overestimate the relative power of those mediums. literally all of "hollywood" (a meaningless term, for all intents and purposes) supported HRC--and it came to no good. taylor swift, at present, has 86.4 million followers on twitter. she endorsed two democratic candidates in 2018 for congress. both lost. clicks, likes, thumb-ups, views, don't amount to anything if young people do not go out and vote. their time is now. they didn't come out in the primaries, and the most moderate candidate won (which is what happened in 2016 as well, though both of their platforms are more progressive than the actual person). i know the democratic party sucks. but as a person who provides healthcare, the closest analogy i can think of is chemotherapy. chemo sucks. it's poison strong enough to kill cancer, not quite strong enough to kill you. as much as it sucks, IT IS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN. AND--as much as it sucks--it is better now than it was 10 or even 5 years ago.
some of the younger ones will claim they are not of age to vote. frankly--if they spent as much time harassing their parents and family members as "canceling" people they don't know, we would be in a far better position. but for all the canceling, we are still getting boris johnsons (not by a little--it was a landslide!) and bolsenaros--which all americans should take as a serious portend that we will get trump again in 2020.
Great to hear from you. Your life must be extremely stressful and taxing. I hope you manage to stay safe. You make some great points. It is extremely depressing that so many of the undemocratic tinpot dictators have been voted into power by the electorate. I am beginning to feel that if democracy dies it will be because people will have voted it away. It will die 'not with a bang but a whimper' to quote T.S. Eliot. The landslide victory for the govt. over here was frustratingly at least in part due to our voting system. In the UK the voting system is unfortunately biased towards the Conservative Party. We never have a single election chosing between two alternatives. In general elections we go along to the polling office to vote for our local Member of Parliament. When you get your slip it can contain a long list of names. The one who gets the most votes wins and becomes an MP even if they only win by just one vote. The party with the most MPs forms the government and the leader of that party becomes the Prime Minister. The independents and the weird parties usually don't get many votes but there are 'unfortunately' more liberal parties than conservative ones. The conservatives have the originally titled Conservative Party. They also had UKIP (UK Independence Party) which kind of fizzled out and was replaced by the Brexit Party. In the general election the Brexit Party made a pact with the Tories (nickname for the Conservatives) not to stand against them. There is also the DUP in Northern Ireland only. On the liberal side we have the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Scottish Nationalist Party (in Scotland only), Plaid Cymru (in Wales only) and the Greens. Had they all agreed to work together they would have won because more people actually voted for parties other than the Conservatives. If you look at this list only the Conservatives and the DUP can be described as right of centre. All the others are centre or centre-left. As for Trump I do hope he can't win although these protests could affect his support in either direction. However, I'm not an expert but Trump's victory was very narrow. In fact, didn't he actually lose the popular vote? A lot of his votes came from people who had voted Obama but wanted something new and different. Since he's been in power one of the marks of his style is that he has never acted as the president for all Americans. He plays only to and for his core supporters. He's never done anything to keep on board the floating voters who are not diehard Republicans but could go either way. My question is, are his diehard supporters actually enough to pull off another victory? Will the floating voters vote for him again? After the last few years I wouldn't take anything for granted but I am hoping that he hasn't done enough to hold on to them and without them his victory is definitely not guaranteed. One of the depressing things is realising that my image that most people were fair minded and decent has taken a dent. The hard right victories have brought out the fascists and racists from under their rocks but also just revealed how many people who are not even that interested in politics hold intolerant and bigotted views. They all feel validated. My favourite slogan that I saw on a placard held by a protester in America was "Make racism wrong again."
