Watched this a week ago. Found it disturbing basically. Good movie don't get me wrong! Chris did a great job along with the rest of the cast. Had to digest it for a while though. Two scenes he was in stand above the rest to me: of course the obvious one with the explanation of how life evolved in the rear and the famous "babies taste best" line. From different interviews I've seen of him he seems to have a rather gentle soul so I wonder how (or if?) that scene affected him. The second was the brief scene with the incredible emotions he showed as he chose to let his friend die and go forward to accomplish his mission. Then to find out at the end he was just manipulated anyway. I think that was what was disturbing the most to me in the movie. I guess the ending showed there was hope but I rather thought the bear was just thinking supper time. I know I probably missed the point on that.
A good movie. I'll have to revisit it again in several months. Meanwhile I'm accumulating more of his movies to watch.

I'll have to revisit it again in several months. Meanwhile I'm accumulating more of his movies to watch. I think feeling disturbed is a pretty reasonable reaction to what the film showed and I had the same reaction. When Snow Piercer was being filmed I volunteered for a forum I was in to read the graphic novel it was based on. I can't remember that much about it now but I know I was struck by the differences ie the film is really only loosely based on the novel. Here are some of them and I think they only refer to the first book and there are three in total. www.thegeektwins.com/2014/03/5-biggest-differences-between.html#.WMaTOFAX6HoI just had a quick look at the end of the 3rd book to jog my memory and without giving any spoilers it involves a 'shock' which is a bit of a downer but nothing like the film. Off topic slightly but I am one of the few Cevansies who didn't think The Losers was an under-appreciated gem. Part of this was because I read The Losers graphic novels too and there was something hugely important in it that White left out and it altered the tone of the film in a crucial way and for the worse. I'll bring it up sometime in The Losers thread. Re. the babies scene. On the surface it's a really good scene that causes a sharp intake of breath but if you're actually an Evans enthusiast it involves watching it through the filter of knowing that there's more chance of Chris eating his own head than popping a baby in the pan! On a lighter hearted note when I got to the last page the first two words nearly caused me to choke on my toast .... There are theories running around my head now as to how this was shown to Chris to get him to sign on to the film. Not that he would have needed any prodding.
