Push has to be one of my favourite Evans movies.
I can watch it over and over (although Camilla Belle does bug me for some reason)
It has a good mix of action and character, and quite a decent soundtrack.
Because alot of effects feel real, as it does not
completely rely on cgi, it still feels current and modern.
I'm assuming that may have been more a budgetary decision but I feel that worked out for the best.
If this had been a cgi driven studio film shot wholly in front of a green/blue screen it would have lost its sense of reality, filming on the streets of hong kong made this movie. Even Vancouver couldn't double for the kind of architecture and winding alleys found in HK.
This could still be the not too distant future, you know, when the whole psychic thing happens.
It's also full of Marvel stars.
Djimon hounsou (GotG), Ming na Wen (M:AoS), Corey Stoll (Ant-man) and The Evans (we all know what he's been in)
... Plus Cliff Curtis was also in Sunshine.
I always thought that this could have become a franchise. It's kind of a shame that no sequel ever made it to production, there may still be time?
I can see it now...
Push, Push Harder, Push: with a vengeance, Push 4.0 ...a good day to Push...?
...No?
I guess if that had been the case we would have a non Evans Captain America and Chris' career may have gone a very different direction
Chris', sorry...The Evans' performance in this is great.
His character is, for lack of a better descriptor, a bit of a twonk. But ya can still like the guy, he's cute and he's got heart.
He has these awesome abilities (moving things with the power of his mind, Jensen would have been more pleased) but in hiding he doesn't practice and kinda sucks. Our introduction to Dakota Fanning and Cassie tell us this, and she is not wrong...even if she is a sucky artist.
My favourite character, besides Nick, is Sniffer Emily, played by Chun li I mean Ming na Wen.
She's sassy, to the point and cares but clearly doesn't want to lol
Granted there are..issues with the story. Why don't they ever just kill eachother, I mean they try...a bit but, these blokes chasing them half the time have guns. They only get super trigger happy in the last 10 minutes and alot of that under mind control.
Why do they want the drug back so bad?
Did they not write down the recipe? Only one vile left of the production run, why no back up locked in a vault?
They know Kira is dangerous, you'd think they would have tied her up better. Did no one at division learn to do a double knot?
Plot holes aside this is an enjoyable popcorn movie, which I will probably be watching next time it's showing on the Syfy channel even though I have it on blu ray and dvd...
