I clearly need to give this one another shot. I managed to sit through about 45 minutes of it but couldn't take anymore, shameful I know. It just didn't pull me in or make me feel for the characters. Perhaps I wasn't paying attention, to be frank I can't really remember what happened in the part I did see There seemed to be too many nothing moments, if that makes sense. I understand when directors/cinematographers/actors take "a beat" but that's usually to lay down an emotion or add some kind of gravitas to the scene. It was simply lacking for my taste...from what I recall *facepalm* ...must re-watch, the whole thing...Do they find the diamond?

I haven't watched it for ages but I remember enjoying it. I think it just seemed really 'different'. I enjoyed the southern scenery and the accents and liked that it was 'period'. I don't know if I actually read this somewhere or maybe I've imagined it - no, I'm SURE I read it somewhere but seeing Chris's look in this film is one of the things that made Marvel look at him as a possibility for playing Cap.

Not imagined. Kevin Feige said he watched it to see if Chris could convincingly play a period character. This and Sunshine are what convinced him Chris could play Cap and part of the reason he was offered the role (3 times) without an audition.

I actually liked this movie. I may be one of a very few. It was odd and not great in places but overall I liked it. I giggle at the premier pics. It was obvious by his suit that he didn't have a stylist at this point. He really knows how to rock a nice suit.

You see, when it was first put forward that he was a strong possibility people who'd only seen him as Johnny Storm didn't get it but if you'd seen his other films (and there were at least 10 of us!! ) you could totally see it. You actually CAN see flashes of Jimmy Dobyne and Robert Mace in aspects of Cap. So it goes to show, even if a film is not a box office beast it can be good for your career in ways you can't predict. Oh! Just had a male crisis. I thought he looked fantastic. How many times have I said to my wife 'does this look all right?' and she's said 'errm, ....'.

I got to about 45 minutes in and actually had to force myself to keep watching. I really don't know if I could sit through it again! I don't know what it is I disliked so much. Friends & I have discussed this movie at length and have come to the conclusion that Tennessee Williams just didn't write male characters that well. I do own this movie, but only to say that I have all of The Evans films on Blu-ray or DVD!

You can definitely see it in the early pictures - he admitted that back then he owned one Gucci suit that he wore everywhere! My two favourite suits of his are the blue/green one from the Before We Go LA premiere, and the beautiful green one from the Paris Winter Soldier Premiere!
