I guess some people are just looking for things to discredit him. When they found pictures of Chris with the military and police, they found the perfect fodder, even though those pictures do not necessarily mean anything. This reminds of why I stay off Twitter. The userbase there is too quick to judge and create drama where there isn't.

The userbase there is too quick to judge and create drama where there isn't. Amen to that. I found this aspect of Twitter really shocking. I became firmly convinced the outrage many people love to flaunt on Twitter has less to do with the issues, about which many of them display only the shallowest of knowledge, and more about projecting an image of themselves. "Look at me I care so much that I'm angry". I was a bit puzzled about the kickback over the police photo. Is the hatred of the police so bad in the USA that you can't even be seen talking to a cop? You can't have a photo with a cop? I mean my overall impression of policing in the states is that they seem poorly trained and trigger happy. It's a different universe to the UK. But he went into a local police station and a photo was taken. Nobody knows why he was there and it's nobody's business really. Neither can he be held responsible for people posting pictures on SM. But to jump from him being civil to some police officers to saying that is supporting racially motivated murders is pretty insane.

It is. See my reply a page back — I believe it was murder and I have no right to speak up re: BLM however I’ve stayed somewhat quiet because the police force runs in my family so damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Especially considering how they went “you posed with cops, reply that acab (all cops are b*stards or we’ll unstan you” like a man was murdered and y’all are worried over who says what where (though I get it influencer culture and wanting to feel like you like the right people) but it’s like COME ON.
Also my few police family members do think it was murder and think it was wrong

One of the photos was at his local police station - they'd used it for filming Defending Jacob. I think he popped in to say hello, thank you and probably sign some autographs. I guess filming was quite a disruption. There was also one taken at the Lobby Hero opening night party, he was posing with some NYC cops who attended.

Exactly. There you go. Just trying to be nice and then people with their agendas use him as a punching bag and as a way of drawing attention to themselves. It doesn't help the causes they are writing about either, it trivialises them by taking the focus away from the core issue and diverting it to things like this. In my view.

He just posted some links to help with the movement and some are still harassing him. That really pissed me off. Leave the guy alone. He's trying to do some good. My momma bear is coming out. I must restrain myself from Twitter. Love people, love!!!

I just can't resist to share here my thoughts with regards to the people who has hate comments on his replies on twitter!🤦🏻♀️ i have to say most of them are just teenagers who don't fully understand what they're talking about, and just wanted to troll or spread hate with celebs that they do not stan. tsktsk!

The userbase there is too quick to judge and create drama where there isn't. Exactly. People are always looking for a reason to stir up shit. I love to roast my faves sometimes (including Chris lol) but what Twitter does isn't teasing in good fun or constructive criticism or even a debate...it's just outright drama and unnecessary hate for no reason. I remember they did the same thing with that photo from the set of Red Sea Diving Resort, where he and some of the other actors are sitting on the ramp of the plane and the extras (who were black people) are standing behind them, more in the shadows inside of the plane. Not a good look, but people jumped on Chris for "racism" rather than questioning if maybe the photographer just didn't think it through very well. Then again the keyboard warriors of Twitter dogpiled him for that entire movie, for reasons I'm not touching with a twenty foot pole lol.

I absolutely love that he's becoming more vocal about politics again. I understand why he felt the need to back away for the sake of ASP, but I can't lie, it disappointed me a bit - especially since he said he wouldn't be able to look at himself in the mirror if he didn't speak up about what he believes in. Atta boy Chris for speaking out again! <3

Atta boy Chris for speaking out again! <3 I started a reply here and I've just deleted it because it was such a long, rambling lament about how we got to this awful place we're in. I don't just mean in America. I had to stop and start again. Yes, Chris is right to speak out. He knows by doing so he leaves himself open to people examining his every move to see if he makes a mistake but sometimes you can't just sit on your hands. Right wing extremists have murdered scores in the USA over the years but Trump is ranting about Antifa. Is Antifa even an actual organisation that you can ban?

i've been quiet for a while. as a matter of full disclosure, i am a health care provider, and am in the middle of all this COVID stuff. and now i am watching my homeland burn down . while i do think it's important that celebrities use their positions to advocate, the social media crowd tends to way overestimate the relative power of those mediums. literally all of "hollywood" (a meaningless term, for all intents and purposes) supported HRC--and it came to no good. taylor swift, at present, has 86.4 million followers on twitter. she endorsed two democratic candidates in 2018 for congress. both lost. clicks, likes, thumb-ups, views, don't amount to anything if young people do not go out and vote. their time is now. they didn't come out in the primaries, and the most moderate candidate won (which is what happened in 2016 as well, though both of their platforms are more progressive than the actual person). i know the democratic party sucks. but as a person who provides healthcare, the closest analogy i can think of is chemotherapy. chemo sucks. it's poison strong enough to kill cancer, not quite strong enough to kill you. as much as it sucks, IT IS THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN. AND--as much as it sucks--it is better now than it was 10 or even 5 years ago.
some of the younger ones will claim they are not of age to vote. frankly--if they spent as much time harassing their parents and family members as "canceling" people they don't know, we would be in a far better position. but for all the canceling, we are still getting boris johnsons (not by a little--it was a landslide!) and bolsenaros--which all americans should take as a serious portend that we will get trump again in 2020.
