Seems to be delayed - again! I've now heard 11th Feb start in Toronto Feb 11 was the date given back in early Dec. Maybe it hasn't been delayed and moved so much as misreported.

To be honest we'll probably never know why. I would probably say with Chris it's scheduling. 'Devil' starts on 19th Feb and goes through to April, although he's not got a very big part in this, I'm guessing it still needs a fair bit of time on set. With Defending Jacob due to start in May he may have thought that is the better project to stay committed too.

With Blomkamp leaving the project it probably also has to due with his scheduling or one leaving the project prompted the other to leave. Blomkamp is now reportedly attached to the Robocop sequel.

Yeah that could be a reason too. Maybe Blomkamp dropped out and the other director didn't want Chris, or Chris didn't want to work with him. Like I said, we'll probably never know.

Pretty sure it would be Chris dropping out and not the other way around. Looking at the director's cv and the spin on the film looks to be going in a different (and schlockier) direction. [sorry hit edit instead of quote first]

I just read about Butler, and I wondered if it was the same GREENLAND. I thought there might be one of those two-movies-one-title things going on.

I was afraid this might happen. And it did. And it sucks. BUT, like i said in a previous post, if i was Chris, i would choose The Devil All the Time over Greenland simply because i think that will be a different, darker, more complex film. I think his decision shows that he's growing as an actor and as person: he left a lead role to do a smaller, but more challenging part i believe, without being interested in big bucks and more popularity.
Now that Gerard Butler is set to star with Ric Roman directing, i think it's safe to say this will be an action-driven film. I will keep an eye on this project but with all these changes it's not something that i really want to see.

I was wondering for a while as the date seemed to keep changing, backwards & forwards and when the filming dates for Devil were announced I wonder if then was the point where he said no.
I will probably see Greenland, just to see what might have been - If I still have my Unlimited card by then!

eh. i loved district 9, but blonkamp has been a predictable miss ever since. and not to be that person, but if it's true gerard butler is picking up, that should send up some red flags about the script.

Just a small update - I know Chris isn't attached to this any longer, but it's got a distributer - STX.
