Small? Not really and certainly more active than what I saw on their Facebook page which they claimed was getting more message traffic and of course the format is lacking. It's not only not conducive to communities but bars any true conversation or even the ability to find and access old posts on the less popular films and actors. It comes down to too much trolling that they didn't want to hire Moderators to control. It wasn't cost effective. The not popular spin, and the spin that they're doing this for their users is just bull.

They were all only ankle deep and far too wide in scope. The point of the message boards was you could get specific ones like ours. I think we had some appreciative lurkers as well as the regular crew.

...I think we had some appreciative lurkers... ....oh.... *raises hand* That's me! To be frank the imdb message boards have never been well set up, structure wise. For me anyway. Hence never posting there myself. A standard forum format such as this works so much better and is easier to follow and understand who you're quoting/replying to. It's clearer, simpler and well, hopefully unlikely to attract the trolls *fingers crossed* Edit: although saying that, I seem to be unable to figure out how to quote properly lol Edit2 : ...now I've got it!

Yes, on the whole I think the closing down of the message boards has been good if it's pushed us to start this up.
I had more or less decided to hang up my Chris Evans boots and retire to the real world (you know! the one outside with the lousy graphics!) but this forum has fired up my enthusiasm again. I'm enjoying doing the film history thing. I'd write a biography but he's too young and I couldn't be serious for long enough.

Glad it's worked too! I can imagine you would find it hard to keep serious in your biography. I clearly remember when somebody on the IMDb board posted something about Chris being so handsome, you informed them that his face was entirely prosthetic and that his real face was so ugly that before he went into acting he earned money scaring the birds away at Logan International. Actually, you could always write a spoof biography. The problem is that in the post truth world we live in people might believe it all.

Ah! Great idea. I'll start the first chapter now - beginning with him being raised by a pack of wolves in Transylvania. It's true. It's a fact.

In that other thread chris-evans.boards.net/post/1964/thread I touched on both Twitter and my gender. The twitter account I set up in our name twitter.com/ChrisEvans4rum is a tiny fish in a vast ocean. As you can see we have a grand total of 85 followers and 'we' only follow 88. A friend pointed out to me not long ago that the avatar I used was a bit of a guy choice. I hadn't thought about it although I was aware that I couldn't bring myself to re-tweet posts which contained language like 'he's so gorgeous, I'm dying.' I deliberately posted a few pretty boy pictures recently and they immediately got way more likes and retweets than I ever normally do. It made me think that my male outlook is probably making the account less interesting to a lot of people. I can't help it. There is at least one person who helps with the tweets but if anyone else wants to chip in to make it less about me please feel free. The password is in a post in the moderator discussion section. If you're not a moderator and want to be one, ask picap about it. The twitter experience hasn't been quite as bad as I expected. There are some really good accounts and some very dedicated fans. It is true that a lot/most/all of the posters presume you're a girl and are in love with HIM but I'm resigned to that. I haven't seen much evidence of the kind of airheads you often get responding to Chris's own tweets. On the other hand I'm wondering if I'm somehow holding the account back or making it too selective etc. I'm used to swimming in oestrogen but I've still got my armbands on. Seriously, if anyone wants to redirect the account feel free. I don't own it. BTW I choose to only hang out with you guys in the Cevansphere so I do get a bit of a slanted view of his fans. I'm used to people who love Chris as a person but are really here because we love him as an actor and the special way he takes what's on a page and channels it through himself to evans it out onto a screen - or stage. Having said that, I do wonder, if you look at his fanbase ie people like us, Marvel fans, kids, guys like me with man crushes etc, are we not in the vast majority? We just don't always make the loudest noises. added in edit Weird thing. I am not a fan of people who put their names or logo on photos they post UNLESS they are their own edits or they've bought them. For example, I can live with ChrisEvansFrance putting their name on their pictures as I have a feeling they must actually buy them, they are so good. However, I put this tweet up a while back.
The picture was a photo that had just come out and I cropped it to make it more apt. I can't believe the amount of times that cropped photo appeared in other tweets without a mention of where they found it. I know it's 'mine' because I know exactly where the edge went to. I raised my eyebrows a few times!! Not even a tag! If I was petty minded I'd start putting a semi-transparent CE4 hidden somewhere in any picture I can claim as my own edit. I need to get a life, don't I?

@bob Don't try to be anything other than yourself. If that makes the account slightly different than most then so be it. That's a good thing. It doesn't matter how many followers the account has. That will probably build up naturally. For me it would be better to concentrate on just helping to spread information and also to post more unusual things like the links to our posts on his past films, favourite scenes and things like that. Keep the avatar. It's very you.
