Chris is going to have to do at least one medium to big budget film in the next couple of years to keep his profile high enough so he can continue doing lower budget films. Probably nothing will ever be as huge as Marvel - really nothing has been before not even SW which was far more spread out but he'll need to keep in the game. Unlike Hemsworth though I think he'll be more particular since he knows it's necessary to long term viability. He's not doing films to chase the big buck or stardom b/c if he was he could easily have taken the same kind of movies as Hemsworth or Pratt - it's not as if he wasn't in the position to be offered them. eh. now that ben affleck seems to be taking roles less, and his little brother has proven to positively be a creep, may they can start letting evans star in one of those prestige movies, as with most of those hits, critically or financially (by the sea or gone girl, for example), i completely fail to see why that wasn't something chris could do.

I'm not sure it's 'letting' him star, a lot of it is down to what he WANTS to do.
While I was a little angry that he's dropped this one - the third movie he's dropped out of this year - I don't think he'd have done so without good reason. There may be something just round the corner, it's certainly happened before.
"Scheduling conflicts" is right up there with "work schedules" and "tired and emotional" when giving an excuse that doesn't actually mean anything!

This is frustrating. The Devil All the Time, Greenland and now Infinite. I don't think the problem is scheduling conflicts, maybe he was supposed to shoot this back-to-back after Defending Jacob, so he probably wanted some time off. Or maybe he found another project that hasn't been announced yet. I'm not a big fan of Mark, but i don't have a problem with him neither as an actor. Still curious what's going to happen with the film, but now that Chris is out, it's not something that i really want to see next year. Greenland had a ton of issues and it also lost it's director. Has it even started filming yet? Devil All The Time also got pushed back so that it overlapped with Jacob. Jacob and Infinite were always going to be a tight fit if Jacob finished in July. But August? He'd have no off time but worse for the project no pre-production time. Hopefully he'll find another better project and he sticks the landing. Out of the two I was more disappointed that he dropped 'Devil' It's a great story. I'll still watch it.
Not heard a peep about Greenland, IMDB still has it in pre-production.

Greenland began shooting on June 24 with Gerard Butler as the lead. Morena Baccarin has been cast as his wife, not Kate Mara.

sort of. when iceman came out, i remember franco was first because they had crunched the numbers, and he would draw in bigger crowds. now surely it is the other way round?

Does anyone know if Defending Jacob is still filming because Infinite just began shooting, so i wonder if it was REALLY a ''scheduling conflict''.

I read elsewhere an interview with Michelle Dockery where she said she was still shooting, so maybe things were halted for a few weeks while Jaeden Martell did IT Ch 2 & Knives Out promos, & she did Downton Abbey. I know there were re-shoots required but not sure what's going on. I know Chris is due in San Fran at the beginning of November for Knives Out.
I've seen reports this week that Infinite is filming in Farnborough, at the airport.

He may be done with primary shoots for Defending Jacob. But I'm sure there's reshoots. Plus he's still doing interviews for starting point. That's his baby so he may be really focused on getting that completed and getting website launched. Plus holidays are coming up. Maybe he wants some family time.

There's the Thanksgiving Disney trip, but not sure when that will be as he'll be at the Knives Out premiere on 25th November.

The boys and I were planning a Disney trip for Thanksgiving. But with my youngest committed to marching band there was a conflict. Thank goodness I had him check before we paid. But if Chris can't go with his family bc of knives out... I will happily substitute for him. He can go with my sons to Mardi gras in February. Sounds fair right?

The Premiere would as usual probably be a few days or even a week before. Aside from that they wouldn't hold it on a big family national holiday and screw over actors and press like that.

Another bullet dodged. Currently sitting at 19% RT Critics Consensus: An initially intriguing sci-fi thriller that quickly veers into incoherence, Infinite is as inane as it is inconsequential. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/infinite

I may check it out, not sure yet.
