(Alas, Cap v Thanos didn't win Best Fight - the INJUSTICE! )
i wrote a nasty response to best fight announcement. which fight is it making reference to? they were all lopsided, as danvers way outclassed her opponents. the equivalent to me would be, if return of the jedi and force awakens came out the same year, the awards acknowledged ridley, boyega, and isaacs over fisher, hamill, and ford. i have no problem with former group, but it's important to acknowledge the contributions of the latter, because that is the last chance to do so. this was the final bow for the og avengers. even if captain marvel was really better (it wasn't), and you really liked it more, i think the right thing to do was to tip the hat to the og. i "get" the awards are completely meaningless, but the whole point (it seems to me) of the mtv awards is to acknowledge pop culture achievements which they know that mainstream awards will ignore. i also "see" what happened... they knew the award for best movie would go to endgame, so they were trying to "spread the wealth" and acknowledge brie being the first female lead in the mcu (because she wasn't going to get best hero over RDJ). but again, she's going to be its leader for the palpable future (so there will be many more opportunities to give her something), and besides that, she already has an oscar (which RDJ does not).
i know the og cast don't care, and i'm blowing it way out of proportion, but this is partly because i know things like the MTV awards are the only place that endgame and its cast would get any nods. i have already gone on about the negative aspects of the mcu, but love it or hate it, no one can deny its impact on pop culture, and so it was a huge mistake for the MTV awards to nearly shut out endgame. basically, the biggest footprints in film pop culture, a massive undertaking over 10 years, got nothing from the pop culture awards. the ENTIRE og cast should have gotten best hero noms over everyone else, all those other people will get their chances again whether it's captain marvel 2, aquaman 2, etc., etc.
and seriously, objectively, cap vs thanos really was better choreographed and shot, and ultimately way more iconic than any fight in captain marvel (this is based on indisputable, hard data). steve was punching WAY above his weight in that fight, which is what has always been captivating about watching him fight. he's doing superhuman things, but chris sells that it's just a man doing things that a man shouldn't be able to do, and taking the licks a man shouldn't be able to take. those things just aren't there with carol because at present, she's portrayed as a living warhead who literally shrugs off headbutts from thanos. the shot of steve standing alone against thanos and his army is compelling BECAUSE you know he's just a man (worthy of mjolnir), it's completely hopeless, but he doesn't care and he'll go die fighting; a similar shot with carol doesn't work because the way she's portrayed, she probably COULD plow down that army without breaking a sweat or fearing for her life.
/rant
i hope the saturn awards, and maybe people's or teen's choice will take better care of the og avengers. maybe someone can start a petition.

Avengers: Endgame with a bit extra in theaters next week. Edit looks to be international
βNot an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, thereβll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.β - Kevin Feige

what an odd time to be re-releasing it. it's going to be directly competing with toy story 4, which looks to be huge. i don't doubt that the "boys in accounting" have crunched the numbers. it seems to me they should have rereleased it earlier, as it's been a barren start to the summer. i can see them not wanting to cannibalize dark phoenix, but that movie was dead in the water a long time ago. i could see thompson and hemsworth asking marvel not to screw with MIB:international's gross, but that also looked dead in the water for awhile. had it been released the weekend of dark phoenix, they would have made much more money, and ruled again until toy story 4. or waiting until the dead of the summer; there's nothing in august after hobbs and shaw, and would also have given the rerelease a bigger box office boost, plus also be a little closer to oscar season (as almost assuredly disney will lobby for RDJ for best supporting actor).

The best time for an expansion would be the week before Labor Day w/e where it could run 2-3 weeks with a mostly barren schedule. But they're releasing the BR before that in mid July.
This scheduling looks more to promote and tie in Spider-Man as it's the w/e before SM opens. With Toy Sory 4, SM and Lion King on the horizon it's not going to get or keep a lot of screens for long.

β Deleted Scenes (4:36) β Gag Reel (1:51) β Avengers: Damage Control β An Immersive VR Adventure (5:23) β In Memory of Stan Lee (6:53) β Introduction by the Russos (2:29) β The Russo Brothers β The Journey to Endgame (4:44) β The Women of the MCU (4:35) β Setting the Tone: Casting Robert Downey Jr (5:07) β Bro Thor (3:28) β Dropped Out of His Time: Captain America (11:44) β Black Widow: Whatever it Takes (7:03) There's no reason Disney couldn't have gone all out. If it's a matter of room (less than 2 minutes for the Gag Reel - come on!) spring for another disc and load it with all the extras they can find. There's also no note of the usual Director commentary - though this calls for a cast commentary - what a lost opportunity.

^^^ in defense of the mouse-house (an odd position)--this is really more concurrent with the overall trend towards streaming and digital storage. the days of "special edition" dvds packed to the nines with special features is for better or worse, a thing of the past. the time to "vote" on this matter is long past. while disney is skimping on special features, that's also true to nearly all the studios. it will likely get worse over time. apparently, between both infinity war and endgame, there's over 900 hours of footage. that we're only getting ~ 4.5 minutes of deleted scenes is a joke. an extended edition might be nice, but we've never gotten that with any of the previous 21 films. in general, though, it seems like feige is pretty receptive to fans. something like a petition might sway him.
