Bruins and Leafs hat - this guy is no hockey fan!! There's NO WAY on this planet that any true Bruins fan would be seen dead wearing a Leafs cap!!

What still amazes me is that he's been in the Pats locker room more than once, is friends with Edleman and Gronk (amongst others) yet STILL hasn't met Tom Brady!

Deep down I don't think he wants to, especially not in the position of a fan. He even said in a recent interview that maybe it's best not to.

I agree Picap, I'm quite sure it's the classic "...never meet your heroes..." fear. What if they're's a disappointment in real life and you've spent all that time and energy looking upto them and adoring them fram afar... *sigh*

I agree Picap , I'm quite sure it's the classic "...never meet your heroes..." fear. What if they're's a disappointment in real life and you've spent all that time and energy looking upto them and adoring them fram afar... *sigh* I've probably said it before. In fact other people have said it too but I'll say it again. Chris's attitude to Brady is so close to my attitude to Chris, it's laughable. I mean they are totally different people so the reasons are different but the principle is the same. I think mine is less 'hero worship' and more 'pretend friend' but maybe my definition of heroes is different. Anyway, I honestly don't know if I actually ever want to meet Chris. You all know I stood next to him once and didn't say anything and I'm pretty sure I'd do the same. I have sometimes tried to analyse this but funnily enough it was something Chris said when he was talking about Brady that made me realise what it was. Do you remember? He said he didn't want Brady to think he wasn't cool. He was being lighthearted but as soon as he said it the penny dropped. He was scared of what Brady would think of him. Imagine meeting your sporting hero and realising they didn't think that highly of you. That is why I wouldn't really want to go up to Chris. I'm not scared of being disappointed in Chris because I don't think I have any idealistic preconceptions. I know his faults. I love the guy but he's no more perfect than me. I actually find some of the tweets in twitterland like 'we don't deserve you', 'you are perfection' etc make me feel very uncomfortable. Do they actually love him or a fantasy of a perfect man? No prizes for the answer to that question. I WOULD be mortified though if I met him and left with the impression that he thought I was a dick. (Chances are he already does but I can pretend.) I think I'd fear an encounter because I'd be scared he didn't like me. Imagine if I had five minutes and succeeded in talking nothing but utter shite. "Oh, Chris. I've wanted to meet you for years! What's your favourite colour? Are you liking the weather? You look weird in real life. What the fuck was London supposed to be about? ... " Or even worse. THE worst. What if said something I thought was funny and he didn't laugh. I'd be forced to jump out of a window. It would be the only honourable thing to do. I'll stick with his indifference. It's safer!!

Let me help you out Bob Although you know this all already lol What's your favourite colour? ...Blue... ...if it's hot out...no...if it's Bostonian, hell yes! ...do you mean physically disappointing? (He gets that alot, right?) Or just wierd...'cause everyone looks wierd in real life. Nobody knows that one buddy... I believe, unlike "ordinary" fangirls (and boys ) we don't necessarily put The Evans up on a pedestal, even if we do call him "The Evans" We realise he's just a guy that happens to do a job which means people see alot of him...especially in "What's your number"... But we don't see him as a piece of meat, he's a man we admire who's human, just like the rest of us ^_^ I too have the fear of making a complete tit of myself...I have an inane talent to ramble when nervous, mostly to prevent puking and passing out *facepalm* But worse still once I settle and feel more comfortable with a situation I get bossy and annoying (I know I'm annoying lol) ...I'm not sure I have a happy medium that comes across any less than "nutter"

I get it, and I agree with what everyone has said here. Probably the only way that he'll meet Brady is if Brady introduces himself to The Evans.
I also think that it helps him with his fans. He fanboys over Tom Brady, we fanboy/fangirl over Chris Evans - he totally gets what we feel like.
While I'd love to meet him, I don't think I really want to! I know I'd say something embarrassing to him, after a while he won't remember it - I will for the rest of my life!!

I think I would still like to meet him. However if I ever did I figure I would totally turn into a blathering idiot. At some point I'm sure I would ask to touch his bicep. He would consider a restraining order or at least run. Or I would just stand mute. Pretty sure I would NOT be the definition of "cool". Yep. Sure of that.

That reminds me of a conversation with a work colleague that's turned into a long-running joke between my boyfriend and friends who I'm meeting in NYC. I'm going to NYC & Boston next March, and am hoping to get tickets to see The Evans in Lobby Hero. Telling said work colleague he said that if I didn't come back from the US without a restraining order then I've failed - so I respond with 'challenge accepted' as a joke. Telling my boyfriend the story he wondered if you could get deported from the US, or at least a restraining order for licking Captain America. My friends found out so, apparently, if we meet him backstage in New York I will be licking him. Yes, I do have a bail fund!!

I think he has been left really (understandably) disappointed by Brady's support for Trump so I think he just blocks that out now and has kind of backed off from wanting to meet him. I feel sad for him because if someone you've worshipped for years turns out to have some pretty nasty and unpalatable views - that really, really sucks.
