the scenes between Chris and Scarlett are great, even in CW, that scene when she goes to the funeral because she wants to be close to him in that time she knows her friend needs her. I think considering the way Chris and Scarlett work, Marvel could have used that and have them be a couple on AoU, etc but since they decided to have the BW/Hulk romance, that just put Steve/Nat into the frienzone completely.
though brutasha got ravaged, in fairness, no one saw it coming. i think whedon does deserve some credit for trying something different. i'm indifferent to romances in these films in general because they are rote by definition, and while i like steve and natasha together, that would have been very predictable. i think it works much better from a "will they/won't they" angle, which is usually historically milked for much more drama in entertainment media, and i still think the door is open to that, as well as more in keeping with the widow character--to me, she is far more interesting when her intentions are ambiguous. part of the reason why brutasha was so jarring was because there was an air of ambiguity around her interactions with both clint and steve (and even tony), and to see her laying it all bare for bruce was too sudden.

The scene is beautifully shot, but it's also their very natural yet complex interaction on a verbal and physical level that truly makes it special.
Erm. Wow. You took the words out of my mouth. I wish. Superbly expressed, Picap.
I absolutely love the tone in their voices in this scene. Or I think I maybe mean the intonation. Whatever. Their voices - both of them - are almost musically beautiful. Maybe I notice it as a non American but American English spoken softly like this is beautiful.

I must admit Chris could read me a pizza menu and I'd be mesmerised! He really does have a lovely voice, and I agree about this particular scene, both his and Mckenna's voices are soothing, and their interaction shows complete trust on her part. He said that he's used to his nephews and niece climbing over him like this, you can tell he's used to it.
