Heh. Chris said in the USA Today interview that RDJ might come to the end of his stint as Iron Man before he does. Which instead of making people think Chris would probably re-up and stay longer has lead to some articles now stating RDJ will be leaving after Avengers 3 and Stark will be killed off.
That is not a scenario I would particularly argue against. Sorry, RDJ!
I would. Like Chris, I'm a big fan but more importantly for the franchise I think the dynamic that drives the Avengers is Tony and Cap's relationship.
Regardless it's not happening. He too extended his contracted to Avengers 4 (not to mention CW and Spider-Man). I think like RDJ, Chris if he continues to extend it will be on a film by film basis.
i was thinking about creating a separate thread, but this one seems appropriate.
for those who don't know, it appears that disney is closing in on a deal to purchase fox studios. as more background: if you didn't know, some time ago, marvel proper was in dire straits, so they licensed off their characters to different studios. i heard spider-man went to one studio for $250,000 at some point. regardless, the x-men and the fantastic four went to fox. spiderman eventually ended up with sony. this left marvel in a pickle in the beginning, as their best selling book, at the time, was the x-men. so they had to get started making movies with their b and c list heroes. the rest, as they say, is history.
the relevance of this is... there is way too much $$$$$$$ involved in fans finally getting to see cap with wolverine or any of the x-men. so it's almost certain that more movies will be offered to chris (the same is true for RDJ). a movie with RDJ, evans, and jackman would break the bank, and there is no way a mouse executive is going to let that go. it's true that jackman is getting a little old to suit up (just in terms of it being not healthy for him to muscle up anymore, no ageism here), but he himself as said he would unretire the claws to be in an avengers movie. the chance of permanent deaths for either cap or iron man during infinity war is virtually zero at this point.
WOW!l I think Chris might actually extend for this. Maybe? I thought they would kill Iron Man and Cap in Avengers 5 but maybe not?
He may go on a film-by-film basis, same as RDJ is currently on. Despite my OP on this thread I'm not sure that he's done with the MCU after all. Providing Steve doesn't die in A4 then he can go on to do a cameo in other films.
IF they do another F4, then I'd love to see Evans do a cameo with a throwaway line about Johnny Storm.
